Austin’s Best Little Music School

Policy Agreement

Summer Lessons

Summer lessons are available à la carte, subject to instructor availability. Families may book a full month or select lesson dates around their summer plans.

A full month of weekly 30-minute lessons is $175. For partial-month bookings, we divide $175 by the number of times your scheduled lesson weekday occurs that month, then multiply by the number of lessons booked.

For example, two booked lessons cost $87.50 in a month with four occurrences of your lesson weekday, or $70 in a month with five occurrences.

For partial-month summer bookings, this calculation uses the regular full-month tuition rate, not the reduced amount of your invoice.

Please confirm your preferred dates with the office before your invoice is issued. Summer lessons are paid in advance. Changes to already-booked lessons follow our cancellation policy; credits require office approval and are not automatic.

Summer Camp

We understand that summer plans can change! To request a cancellation or reschedule your camp session, call us at 512-992-7899.

Cancellation & Refunds

Each camp registration includes a $40 nonrefundable processing fee. Refund percentages apply to the amount paid after subtracting that fee.

Refunds depend on how many calendar days before your camp session’s start date we receive your cancellation:

  • 42 days or more: 100% of the amount paid, excluding the $40 processing fee.

  • 28–41 days: 60% of the amount paid, excluding the $40 processing fee.

  • 15–27 days: 20% of the amount paid, excluding the $40 processing fee.

  • 14 days or fewer: No refund.

Camper Substitutions

If your child cannot attend, another camper of the same age may take their place. Please contact us to arrange the substitution before camp begins.

Trial Lessons & Free Consultations

We offer a free consultation to discuss your goals, scheduling, and how lessons work. The consultation is separate from a trial lesson.

A trial lesson costs $49. That payment is credited toward your first month’s tuition if you enroll.

If you need to reschedule your trial lesson, contact the office with more than 24 hours’ notice. We’ll help you find another available time. If you cancel with 24 hours’ notice or less, the $49 trial fee will be charged to your card and is nonrefundable.

To reschedule a free consultation, please contact us as soon as possible.

Tuition

Learning music takes time, consistency, and practice. We encourage students to stay for at least one semester to build a practice routine and develop their skills. This is a recommendation, not a required enrollment commitment. Enrollment is month-to-month.

Weekly 30-minute private lessons are $175 per month during our September–May school year. Our calendar includes 35 lessons, with scheduled holiday breaks already factored into the rate. Monthly tuition stays the same even when some months have more lesson dates than others.

To make payments manageable, tuition is divided into nine equal monthly installments of $175, regardless of the number of lessons in each month.

Quick breakdown:

Franklin Music Academy

Tuition reserves your weekly lesson time. Recitals and FMA-created learning materials are included. Method books and other recommended purchases are additional.

Invoices for the upcoming month are emailed around the 23rd. AutoPay is set up for all new accounts, and your saved payment method is charged when the invoice is issued.

Any outstanding balance is due by the 5th of the upcoming lesson month. A $10 late fee applies to past-due invoices.

Cancellation credits, temporary breaks, and withdrawals are handled according to the policies below. Canceling or missing a lesson does not automatically reduce tuition.

Delinquent Accounts

FMA reserves the right to suspend or discontinue instruction of any student who is delinquent in fulfilling his/her financial obligations at any time during a semester. Delinquent accounts are overdue accounts with an outstanding balance of 30 days or more.

Observed Holidays

Franklin Music Academy is closed for the following holidays:

  • Thanksgiving Week (1 week)
  • Christmas & New Year’s Break (2 weeks)
  • Spring Break (1 week)

Tuition remains unchanged during these months, as holiday breaks are factored into the annual tuition.

Attendance & Cancellations

Students are expected to attend their scheduled weekly lessons.

Student Cancellations

To cancel a lesson, email the office or call/text 512-992-7899. Include the student’s name and the lesson’s date and time. Telling your teacher alone does not count as notifying the office.

Cancellation-credit requests must reach the office more than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. Requests are reviewed individually; advance notice does not guarantee approval.

If approved, your cancellation credit is calculated by dividing your regular monthly tuition by the number of times your scheduled lesson weekday occurs in the month of the canceled lesson. Dates during scheduled FMA holiday breaks remain included in that count.

For example, at $175 monthly tuition, one approved cancellation receives a $43.75 credit when your lesson weekday occurs four times that month, or a $35 credit when it occurs five times.

Approved credits are applied to the next month’s invoice. Any adjustment before an invoice is issued also requires office approval.

Makeup Lessons

A makeup lesson may be arranged instead of a cancellation credit when both the instructor’s and student’s schedules allow. Makeup lessons are not guaranteed. The same canceled lesson cannot receive both a makeup and an invoice adjustment or credit.

Late Cancellations and Illness

Cancellations with 24 hours’ notice or less, including unexpected illness, do not qualify for a cancellation credit. No-call/no-shows do not qualify for a credit. Please keep sick students home and notify the office as soon as possible. A makeup may be offered when scheduling permits, but is not guaranteed.

School or Instructor Cancellations

If your instructor is unavailable, we aim to arrange a substitute. If we cannot provide the scheduled lesson, we will adjust an unissued invoice or apply an account credit to the next month’s invoice. A makeup may be arranged instead when both schedules allow. Emergency closures are handled separately below.

Holidays and Emergency Closures

Scheduled school breaks are already factored into tuition and do not receive additional credits, refunds, or makeup lessons.

If FMA remains open on a holiday, lessons take place as scheduled. Choosing not to attend because of that holiday does not qualify for a credit or refund. Rain or cold weather alone does not automatically qualify an absence for a credit.

Emergency closures caused by circumstances beyond our control—including ice storms and unexpected power outages—do not qualify for tuition credits or refunds. Makeup lessons may be offered when scheduling permits, but are not guaranteed.

Child Supervision

Please be sure to pick him/her up promptly after class/lesson time. Franklin Music Academy (FMA) staff does not supervise children waiting on premises before and/or after classes, camps, or sessions. Children are under supervision during their instruction time only. Instructors or staff are not responsible for supervising children outside of teaching time.

Materials

FMA-created learning materials are included in tuition. Students may need to purchase method books or other recommended materials separately.

Please bring your assignment binder, music, and required books to every lesson.

If a student repeatedly arrives without required materials and this interferes with instruction, FMA may charge a $10 materials fee to provide replacements. We will notify the family before applying the fee.

Practice Expectations

Students are encouraged to practice regularly and come prepared for each lesson to maximize progress and avoid repeating material. The recommended practice time will be determined collaboratively between the teacher and student.

Termination of Lessons

Enrollment is month-to-month. To stop lessons at the end of a month, please give the office at least two weeks’ notice and contact us before invoices are issued for the following month, usually around the 23rd. AutoPay charges your saved payment method when the invoice is issued.

To withdraw, email or call 512-992-7899. Notifying your instructor alone does not count as notifying the office.

Tuition is paid in advance for the full month. If you stop attending partway through a paid month, the remaining lessons are forfeited and are not refunded.

Any existing approved account credit may be refunded or retained for future use. Your lesson time slot will not be held after withdrawal.

Special circumstances may be reviewed individually. Please contact us as early as possible to discuss your situation. Any exception to our standard cancellation or withdrawal policy must be approved by Franklin Music Academy; invoice adjustments, credits, and refunds are not guaranteed.

Temporary Breaks

If you need a temporary break, contact the office in advance to confirm your last lesson date and planned return. Please give at least two weeks’ notice and contact us before the next month’s invoice is issued.

Tuition is not charged during an approved break. To reserve your current lesson time, you must pay in advance for the month you plan to return. Without that payment, your time slot may become available to another student.

Stopping attendance partway through an already-paid month does not automatically qualify for a refund or credit. Existing approved account credits may be retained for future use.

To arrange a break, email or call 512-992-7899.
